no, i am not related to this guy. on the topic of international travel, however, my dear friend is flying transatlantic tomorrow. my next week will hopefully be filled with boddington's ale, cadbury chocolate and potato crisps. on second thought, i will probably just drink a lot of tea.

ok, so this is really just a placeholder site until i get my act together. i thought taking the site down would motivate me to get it back up again faster, and i guess maybe it has.. because it either just sits there and stagnates or i keep coming up with different ways to fill the gap. so consider this another way.
there are a lot of reasons to write and a lot of things to discuss. i think one of the biggest things that the media is currently bombarding us with is the democratic primaries. it's been fascinating to watch the candidates ebb and flow with popularity. it should be interesting to see if the race is as clear cut in other parts of the country. i would like to see a candidate who actually stands a chance of taking on bush.
there was something i read about bush this evening which officially motivated me to get something up on here. i admit that i read drudgereport sometimes, on an increasingly smaller and smaller scale, but i like to have the big bold headlines thrust in my face every now and again. there it was in red bold letters across the top:
"BUSH TO SEEK BIG BUDGET INCREASE FOR NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS... Laura Bush plans to announce the request -- for the largest increase in two decades -- on Thursday... Developing..."
(update: click here for link to actual story)
that right there was enough to get me to write something here. i feel manipulated by the bush machine. i am disgusted by his whole administration in new ways everyday. i guess i should be happy about the fact that money will be designated to go to the arts, and i am.. our society needs culture and education to expand our minds and creativity. i just can't believe it's coming with good intentions.

happy birthday chris!
11 january 2004 (more)
i meant to address the 2003 was a shitty year comment since some people have found creative ways to respond to it. 2003 had a lot of really great moments -- as in larger than life -- best moments i have ever experienced, but it did have a lot of bad moments not all having to do with any one person or series of events... the whole idea about 2004 being a better year is to take what i have learned from my good and bad experiences of 2003 and apply them to more balanced and happy days ahead. it's all good.

it's cold as hell outside... i guess hell would be sort of hot though. when i read weather.com yesterday, it said that the temperature outside was 3 degrees. i am not sure i have ever seen such a low number. my room is pretty cold, thank goodness for blankets.
i have tons of new pictures to put up in the photo section, but because there are so many i have been procrastinating. they will turn up sooner or later. it's almost stellargirl.com's birthday, 4 years this month. it's been a wild ride, some might say. i still often think of putting her out of her misery.
i got crafty over the holidays and made a new comforter cover for my bed, that was fun. i also have some serious new technical advances to apply to my new puter. lots to do.
stellargirl is probably going to be quiet for a little while.. so enjoy your lives and stay warm.
