12.28.00
okay, here is what i did today, i souped up the photo section. it
is bound to change several times, but i welcome you to take a look
at what i have been working on. to my regular readers, i.e. subjects
of my portraits and the like, please take a closer look, there may
be a photo or two that you have not seen before! click
here to view the updated photo section (and keep on clicking here
if you need to get back to it!!)
12.27.00
many eyes have been viewing stellargirl of late and it is a good thing,
because i am proud to unveil a NEW feature to stellargirl, LONDON
DIARY, by fellow stellar girl, christine. christine is going to
share with us her adventures and experiences in her new home of london,
england. stay tuned....
12.26.00
here is an idea for you: new year's resolutions. yes they are cheesy,
but it is cool when you actually accomplish something that you set
out to do. i would like to create a holiday feature, new year's resolutions,
past and present. we all know that some resolutions work and some
don't. my resolution for this year, 2001, is to get out of debt! i
would also like to take a photo class. i plan on adding to that list
over the next week, but those are definitely on the top! new year's
resolution success story: 1996 -- become a vegetarian! 5 years and
counting.....
12.25.00
merry merry christmas and happy hanukkah and happy kwaanza and a joyous
festivus to all! i have returned home to be with my family and of
course, it has been an adventure as only it can be when the family
reunites. it is a comfort to know that in mere days, i will be flung
across the country once more.
i mustn't forget to mention that i got some very positive stellargirl
feedback this weekend from some old friends. be sure to keep your
eye out for some new features from special friends in both london
and new york. stellar-ific!!
12.19.00
stellargirl is going to be offline for just a few days...because....i
got laid off!! and i don't even care. more to come on that topic.
luckily there are no hard feelings. anyone have any good stories about
losing their jobs?
12.18.00
please note the MUNI music of the day feature, listed in the left
column on the front page (this page!). it has been a challenge for
me to listen to something both different and random everyday. yeah,
it's only been a week, but if i have encouraged you to listen to an
old cd of yours, or maybe get a new one, then my job is done. actually,
hearing what other people are listening to reminds me of other music
out there that i might have forgotten about. i usually have a pattern,
either compulsively buy new music right away, or sample some mp3s
and then take the plunge. yay mp3s.
just one more week until the annual christmas celebration. i must
say that i do appreciate it more this year for the fact that i will
be spending time with my family and my old friends. that will be a
new experience for me, i.e. being far from home. personally, i am
happy to have an excuse to give gifts to the people i love. i know
it can get ridiculous and commercial and all that business, but it
is the season of giving. bla bla bla.
the post office was crowded today.
12.15.00
there is this really great movie called "Office Space" and i think
you need to have worked at a company comparable to initech in order
to appreciate it, and for most of us young dot-commer, computer geek
types, we have been there -- or we are there today. if you have seen
it, i would like to bring to mind the beginning traffic scene where
the guy (what was his name?) can't seem to get in the right lane of
moving traffic, and as he switches from lane to lane, he looks over
to the sidewalk where an elderly man is creaking along with his walker,
moving at a faster pace than the traffic! well, anyway, i was on the
bus this morning, and my eye caught a vision of santa claus in a festively
decorated wheelchair, wheeling along, and no matter how much progress
the bus made, we could not beat santa. go santa.
san francisco is cool. you can wear sandals and a wool scarf at the
same time. yay west coast. the rest of the country is getting bombed
with snow and it isn't even christmas yet!
the deal of the week is ON today.
12.13.00
later in the evening...6:12pm
i just watched al gore give his concession speech, a group of people
gathered 'round a live webcast... we have not known who was president
for 5 weeks and now, sadly, we head into a downward spiral of republican
dominated government. goodbye strong economy. see you later impartial,
nonpartisan supreme court. hello conservative world. hello emigration!
be strong my friends.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it's gonna rain today, oh yeah. hey friends...what is everyone doing
for new years? it is my LEAST favorite holiday of the year, and i
am currently trying to pick a coast to spend it on. any suggestions,
ideas, plans?
12.11.00
later on....
just when i think i am done writing about MUNI, i have another really
great trip. here are some things i know. more people take the bus
during rush hour. more people take the bus when it is raining. more
people take the bus when it is rush hour and when it is raining. you
now have a visual. allow me to enhance it just a bit. wall to wall
people in a small area on a humid evening creates quite a bit of a
sauna. not quite the feeling i want to have when traveling. steamy.
still have yet to start using blogger
on here, but i will one day implement it so that i can make my life
(and yours too) 10 times easier. more bitching about MUNI for all!
ever thought about what you want to be when you grow up? well, i am
sure that we all have. are you doing what you want? are you on a road
to getting where you want? are you open to your own personal evolutions
which may change your path? i think everyone needs to travel so that
they can see all, or many, of their options. and i suppose that this
is only necessary if you do not feel completed by your environment...which
i have yet to meet a person who is. every now and again i need to
get all philosophical, usually as a result and conglomeration of my
own feelings mixed in with the sentiments of my friends. get out there
and try something new. be brave and don't have a plan, dive in and
stay afloat, surprise yourself.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it's monday morning, monday, monday monday monday...or something like
that. and it is almost christmas, and i do not have a tree this year.
i made a wish
list on amazon.com, filled with tons of lovely things that i want
and don't need. (doesn't everyone want a DVD player?) actually, i
have got a webcam on there, which could bring about the renaissance
of STELLARCAM, hey remember that? my site never had such unbelievable
traffic. the numbers in comparison are simply dreadful.
i am thinking about taking a photo class in the spring with miss lovely
susannah-L. i think i really need to do that, and i really want to.
want to and need to. better to want to and need to than need to and
not want to or want to and not need to. ya know what i mean? i better
get back to "work."
keep it real.
also, to everyone in LONDON, christine is really cool!
12.08.00
now i would like to know just what in the heck MUNI thinks they are
doing already! for the past 2 days, i have walked out the door, waited
for the bus for about 5 minutes, got on and got a seat! i mean, this
is utter craziness! what consistency, what delight, what a joy! but,
i am faithful that tonight when i take the bus home, i will wait for
a half an hour, squeeze into the standing room only moving death box,
be thrown wildy about, and accidentally grab onto someone's hair at
least once. oops, sorry!
the weekend is upon us, it is friday evening, i am dorking out at
work since i am without internet connection at home, temporarily.
the new digs are good good good, though a little chilly sometimes.
i have heard from my east coast connections that it is quite brisk
and chilly out there. yesterday i wore a vest merely because i had
a striped shirt on, and i was plenty warm. san francisco continues
to have such pleasant weather, among other things.
time for me to go get myself a social life. have a pleasant weekend
and to all a good night.
12.07.00
Today's MUNI observations of the day:
1) 2 people on MUNI were listening to portable tape cassette players.
i thought that was a high number in these days of technology. i actually
became a little jealous as my cd player skipped and stumbled. But
then i felt better when a really bad song came on and i could skip
to the next one with one click of a button.
2) imagine the 3-seat bench. i on one end, a man on the other. a girl
gets on and sits in the middle. we're talkin' close quarters! especially
when the guy on the end needs to sit with his legs totally spread
apart so the girl was practically sitting on my lap. what's he got
down there anyway! regardless, being cramped on the bus becomes this
unified "we're all in this together" kind of comraderie, the person
next to you becomes your sister or your brother, your partner in struggle.
but then your stop comes and you forget everything.
12.06.00
hey there all my friends...i have been a slacker about this and i
only have a second to write. interesting observations of the day,
2 people on the bus this morning were reading books by david sedaris,
both books which i have read since being in san francisco. he is one
of my favorite authors, what a funny man!
another thing i wanted to say was that i need to put some sort of
copyright junk on here, i realize, but for future, until i get it
all ironed out, please ask me for permission to use my images...because
they are after all, mine! mine! mine! hehe...
i also want to take a minute to thank my friend jack saturn for all
the traffic that i have been getting, be sure to check out his coooool
site at saturn.org.
jack's site is a great example of how cool "the" blogger
is.
time to wrap, it up...can't wait to get in the game!! |
